‘Never judge a book by its cover’ – the reality is we do!

 

Within the first three seconds of an encounter, you are being evaluated... even if it is just a glance.  People observe your demeanour, mannerisms, body language and even assess your grooming and accessories – watch, handbag, briefcase etc.  Within only three seconds you make an indelible impression.  You may intrigue some, and disenchant others.  

 

Whilst we all have a unique clothing personality which we encourage people to express using guidelines of the best colours, shapes and proportions, dressing for the workplace can mean making some changes.  This is more a case of ‘it’s not what’s right or wrong, but what is appropriate’.

 

Studies show people who present themselves better, get paid better!  They are also more respected and held in higher authority.  Further studies show that you are judged 55% on appearance when meeting and speaking with someone!  They are not even listening to half of what you are saying – but judging you on your appearance.  What do your clothes say about you?
